No! We use 2 different topical numbing agents to keep you comfortable. It isn’t a “painless” experience but it shouldn’t be painful.
Everyone is different but every couple years is average. Some people are closer to the 18 month mark and some will go 3+ years in between boosts. There are no rules! We just want you to wait as long as possible in between sessions. They should be faded by about 50% and you should feel like you need to use makeup on them.
Healing is typically pretty easy! We do want you washing them and applying ointment several times per day for 7 days. You can expect to feel red and possibly a little bit swollen day 1 or 2. Swelling is usually subsided within 48 hours. Your brows will be at their darkest on days 1-4 and will then they will start to do a very light peel (if any) before lightening several shades as they heal. Brows may heal patchy and that's to be expected as the immune system has its way with the tattooing. At your perfecting session 6-8 weeks later, we will fill in any holes you have and you'll be good to go for 18+ months to many years!
There is a greater risk of infection and should you get an infection, the types of antibiotics used to treat it could be harmful to the fetus or be absorbed into breast milk. It is also a “no-go” from an insurance standpoint.
We actually get this question a lot! and the answer is a resounding NO! Sure, different techniques may need to be used but as long as you're healthy and the skin is in good condition, you're good to go! We have tattooed all ages starting at 18 to 90 years old!
